Decided to walk to work in the morning. Was walking through the park when I made a new friend. Here is her picture.

The cool part was that she was very friendly. I called her and she came and rubbed against my feet. And I guess it was kind of God sent because I was kind of feeling a little lonely at that time and my friend came out of nowhere and cheered me up.

Thanks my dear friend :)

Another beautiful day in Oslo is coming to an end and another post begins.

My mornings everyday start with a trip on the bicycle to National Theatret. It feels really cool to ride a four gear bike on a slope :P The chilly wind of the morning goes into the eyes and make them water but I don’t mind that considering the beautiful mornings that I get to see over the waters as I pass the sea front near Aker Brygge.

Then starts my second favorite pastime, reading books. There is a cool library over here which loans books, dvds for free. And that too 20 at a time. So I have picked up many dvds and a couple of cool books. One to learn Norwegian of course and another one which is a cool story named “The heart is a lonely hunter” by Carson McCullers. Riding in the subway is pretty relaxing and I get about 30 minutes of peaceful reading time.

Only trouble I am having now a days is with sleep. Since I wake up at 5 am everyday, sleeping a little late everyday causes me trouble of sleep deprivation. Hope to catch up on some sleep today. Very funny in Oslo is that the sun almost never sets and it’s pretty bright even in the night. Many of the pictures I have taken and posted on orkut have been taken at night and you can still see sunlight in many of them. I guess the exact opposite will be happening in the winters where there will hardly be any sunlight.

Travelling a lot of places within Oslo for now. Next week will probably be a trip to the Fjord. Hope to see some exotic locations because Fjords are supposed to be extremely beautiful with lakes between the mountains. Hope to post lots and lots of pictures of that tour.

The best thing I like about Oslo is that everything and everone is calm and peaceful, just to my liking. Many people even if they are strangers smile and greet you if you meet them. That is pretty cool considering the rude behaviour that one gets to see in Mumbai especially during travelling.

I guess that’s it for now. Missing Mumbai, missing friends, and most of all missing Mumbai food but then when that equation is unbalanced, it doesn’t really matter I guess.

Hellloooooo Internet world,

So, I’m back after a long hiatus especially in blogging. Was having trouble getting an internet connection (funny since I am supposed to be in well connected Norway). But still, now I am happy I have got it. Just got it yesterday. And now I am getting back to be the lazy ass again.

So what have I been doing in Norway? Last time I posted, I was visiting the university hospital on a Saturday (feeling dumbass about it right now). But it was cool. Since then I have had a lot of fun within Oslo itself. Summer here consists of sunny days followed by patches of rain. But summers are really great over here. The people really seem to enjoy it a lot.

I hope to be posting the places I visited along with the pictures soon.

Today morning we got up early as we had to go to the University Hospital to get a checkup for tuberculosis as per the government rules. So we catch tram no 18 from Jerbantorget to the Hospital. It is a bit cold and raining. The Hospital is at a beautiful location. There is a small hill and opposite that is the large University campus. We ended up at a place not knowing where to go. Then we ask a man the location but he too did not know. But he was very helpful and spent the next 10-15 minutes helping us to get to the location and himself came with us. Then came the comedy of errors as we found out that the Hospital is closed on weekends. Here is a picture of the University clock tower.

We returned back to the tram station eating our favorite rosin boller.

So we return back to Jerbantorget. We had some chicken tikka rice and some delicious cream balls at Deli Luca. Next we went to a flea market near Gronland. It was a stroke of luck as we found a couple of winter jackets at a very cheap price over there. So we bought them and spent some time in the market. Lots of stuff from mobiles, electronics to furniture to kitchen appliances all were put for sale there. Then we returned to the hotel.

Later in the afternoon we went to see an apartment to rent in the Tinghus area. The house was a pretty decent 3 BHK apartment and the agent was pretty decent as well.

Returned home again and then went alone to Oslo Central to make phone calls. I broke my own record today when I spoke for nearly an hour. Things definitely seem to change. It felt good to talk to family and friends.

The search for a house continues. Hopefully, we will get a house in the above area. That’s the cool National Theatre area. Also present is the Oslo University. Past several days we leave office and just keep travelling in Oslo in search for a house. Then we reach home at around 12pm and sleep like a log. But it is pretty cool travelling in Oslo. Really wonderful place. Transportation is also good as we get a pass which can be used in the trains, buses, trams and boats. The above pictures are taken at around 10-10:30 pm :)

Few incidents in the subway trains today. First I got to see a really simple and beautiful Indian girl in the train ;) Next a lady accidentally left her child in the train and could not enter it. She sat crying on the station. Kanika, Yogesh were the cool dudes who immediately rushed to help her. The lady was from Pakistan and there was nothing much to worry as the people were very helpful. They used the emergency phone on the station to phone the next station and inform them about the child. Also there was another person with the child so not much worry. The lady caught the next train and hopefully was reunited with her kid. People here are really cool. Makes me proud to meet such simple and beautiful people. Hats off to the good guys :) Hats off to Yogesh and Kanika :)

Today was good day at the office. Got work assigned. Had lunch at the canteen. Kind of started to enjoy Norwegian food. No spices though. In the evenings we have Punjabi dinners. Went to Oslo City mall today. Really huge place. There was a good discount at Jack and Jones. Also there was a really cool electronics store with all possible stuff there. I sure want to visit that again :)

Today entire day went in searching for a house. We reached Vestli searching for the house. It was a good house but too far and maybe problems during snow fall. Really beautiful place with a lot of scenic views.

Had medu vada, batata vada at a Tamil restaurant. The weather here is pretty unpredictable. One time it is sunny and the next it is raining. Wind does make it a little chilly over here.

So after travelling in Finn air reached Oslo, Norway. The Finn Air flight to Helsinki was very cool. The best thing in that was the entertainment system. It was a touch screen which had audio, movies, tv, games, etc. I almost watched two movies, Jumpers and The Bucket List. Then we also played online multiplayer chess on the plane. COOL! I had a European breakfast which consisted of eggs, mashed carrots and cabbage, pastry, chicken pattice and coffee. And in lunch I had a ham burger. It was pretty ok.

Reached Helsinki and it was pretty cold. Then after another hour and half journey reached Oslo, Norway. It was approximately a 10 hours journey. Then we took a cool train direct from the airport to Oslo Central. The hotel was around 10 minutes from the station. Oslo Central is a very big and cool station with lots of shopping areas in it. It was pretty cool to access free email from the train station using an Apple Macintosh.

The next day was spent completing the formalities of registration with the authorities. Travelled around Oslo Central, Gronland, Strotinget, and it was pretty cool. Oslo has a little smoking problem though. A lot of people smoke here and there are cigarette stubs around the place. The people here are very friendly and always ready to help.

Our lunch and dinner has mostly been Punjabi cuisine for the past couple of days. I must admit the Punjabi food that I ate here at Rasoi was much tastier than any I have eaten in India. The tandoori naan is to die for.

Right now our major concern is to look out for an apartment.

Today was National Day in Norway. So there was a parade that took place today. The weather was a little nasty with 5 degrees and rain and wind. I was shivering in the open spaces and only a strong coffee helped me a little. People here celebrate this day with great fervour wearing their traditional dresses, waving flags and singing. It seems that today night is party night and drinks will flow like water.

It feels a little funny sometimes because even at 8 in the night there is sunlight. And the weather is unpredictable. It is supposed to be the start of summer, so we are hoping things will get better. But then I am also excited about the snow fall. This will be the first snow fall of my life (of course had experienced artificial snow fall in China).

News is that I’ll be flying to Oslo, Norway in a few days. An assignment for a year or so. Am sure going to miss a few people especially family and friends. Planning on the packing and stuff which I’ll be busy in this weekend. But also looking forward to the trip as I’m going to be spending a part of my life there. The change process has already started and I hope to be much improved when I return back. It’s a beautiful place and hope to click a lot of pictures. Hoping to blend into a new culture, enjoy new places and good food. And hoping to learn and understand a lot about people.

Regular day today. Morning while going to work, there was an accident which had taken place. So was delayed in reaching office. It was a private mini bus which was completely smashed from the front.

Work was average and regular. Nothing special. Just created some new design.

Evening travel was spectacular. The driver drove the bus like an airplane and I managed to reach Sanpada in 15 minutes flat. Second time in 2 and a half years.

Recently it happened to me that in my office lift, I heard a conversation between a guy and a girl and felt like I had heard exactly the same conversation with exactly the same settings before in that very lift. How many times it happens with us that we visit a place for the first time in our life and somehow we tend to recall having seen that place before. I was searching for what this phenomenon is called and now I know that it is known by the French term “Deja vu” meaning “already seen”.

No one clearly knows why it happens though the brain is held responsible. There are several theories ranging from memory to rebirth. Frankly, I find it pretty cool when it happens. One of the amazing funkiness of the brain.

Next time I get this feeling, I’ll remember to say “DEJA VU” :)
